Call for Applications – Graduate Fellows 2022-23
The McLuhan Centre for Culture and Technology is inviting applications for two Graduate Fellows for the 2022–23 academic year.
Graduate Fellows will be doctoral candidates (ABD) from any department or discipline at the University of Toronto working on questions of contemporary or historical media and mediation, using humanistic or social scientific approaches. We are especially eager to receive applications from candidates whose work intersects with this year’s theme, “Our Selfies, Our Selves,” although that is emphatically not a requirement.
Graduate Fellows will receive a stipend of $3,000, access to the McLuhan Centre Coach House, ongoing mentoring from the Director of the Centre, and research assistance from the Centre’s RA(s). Graduate Fellows will be expected to participate in the life of the Centre, regularly attending Centre events: exhibitions, Monday Night Seminars and Playtime, lectures, and so on.
Preference will be given to students who have advanced to candidacy and submitted a dissertation chapter.
To apply, please submit the following materials by email to email@example.com not later than May 31, 2022:
Cover letter outlining the candidate’s research and its progress (not more than 1 page)
Letter of support from their dissertation supervisor (emailed directly to firstname.lastname@example.org)
A writing sample (scholarly article or dissertation chapter, in published or manuscript form; not more than 10,000 words)
Any inquiries about this program can be sent to email@example.com.
